How We Got Started

Hello my name is Brian Wilson I am the owner and head trainer at Wilson’s Dog Training. I have lived in Central IL my whole life and have owned and handled dogs my entire life. In the spring of 2018 I became a Certified Master dog trainer, Animal Behavioral & Communication Specialist Through Academy of Canine Communications. Then in 2021 I attended the Silver and Gold NePoPo® school. This school was taught by a couple of the Best dog trainers in the world. Michael and Bart Bellon. NePoPo® stands for negative, positive, positive. For example to get a dog to sit you pull up on the leash which is the negative (adding pressure) once the dog sits you release the pressure of the leash that is the first positive then you follow up with a treat which is the second positive. Through the NePoPo®  school I was taught more about how dogs’ minds work and how to get them to work with heart and soul. We offer several different types of classes and trainings to meet everyone’s needs. You can find those on our Services page. Or if you had something else in mind email us so we can come up with the perfect training package for you. We also offer a payment plan. You can email us for more info on that as well.

New Training

We are working on a couple new programs that we have started with our dogs and once we are can prove that the training works we will put the new packages on on our website. The first is Shed hunting dogs. Right now we are working with Winston our Yellow lab and by the beginning of March we will see How many sheds we can find.

The second one we are working on is to train Dogs to help find Morel mushrooms. We currently are training Winston and Prairie to hunt and find Morel mushrooms. To Keep up to date on how the training is going follow us @Wilsons dog training on Facebook or send me a friend request @Brian Wilson on Facebook.

Hi, my name is Carla Wilson! Brian Wilson and I launched our business in 2018. I wear many hats here at the kennel. If you call, I will most likely be who you talk to to set up trainings, boarding or daycare. My favorite thing about owning our business is getting to hangout with all the dogs! I also enjoy meeting and getting to know so many new people!

Trainer/Kennel Technician

Hi All I’m Heather Seward, I have been employed with Wilson’s since April 2021. I started as a kennel technician and later transitioned into a training role under Brian’s amazing leadership. I’ve always had a love for animals especially dogs and horses. To see the progress and growth in the dogs during the four week board and train is just one of my favorite things about my job. I also love watching a dog build confidence to face the world without as much fear. It always brings tears to my eyes. Proud is an understatement. We truly have an amazing team here at Wilson’s. I love building relationships with my teammates, clients and those amazing fur babies!
